Easy Classical Sonatas
Edited by Elisabeth Weinzierl and Edmund Wachter
In the Classical Period numerous contemporaries of Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven were held in high musical esteem. Besides other works, these popular composers wrote a great deal of music for the dilettante; music that was and is not too difficult to play. One can discover amongst thier works pieces that are well suited today for instruction in early and middle grades. The special merits of these Sonatas are thier melodic liveliness and thier clear formal structures. The range, rhythmic patterns and other technical demands will not exceed the abillites of most students.
The Sonatas are published in this book for the first time in modern editions. These follow the first and/or other contemporary editions. Obvious errors have been tacitly corrected. Other revisions of the editors are clearly marked.
